Rail Connectivity

Parasnath (PNME) is the nearest and most convenient railway station for reaching Sammed Shikharji. Located on the Howrah–Delhi main line, the station is well-connected to major cities such as Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Patna, Varanasi, and Ranchi. Many express and superfast trains halt here, making it a preferred entry point for pilgrims.

From Parasnath Railway Station, Madhuban (the base village of Sammed Shikharji) is approximately 20 km away. Pilgrims can hire taxis, shared jeeps, or private vehicles available outside the station. The road journey takes around 45–60 minutes, passing through scenic forested areas.

Alternatively, Giridih Railway Station can also be used, though it has fewer direct trains. From Giridih, Madhuban is about 25 km away. For elderly pilgrims and organized sanghs, pre-arranged transport from the station to Madhuban is recommended for a smooth and comfortable journey.

By Road

Road Connectivity

Sammed Shikharji is well-connected by road through Madhuban, the main base point for the yatra. Madhuban can be reached easily from nearby towns and cities via state highways and well-maintained roads, making road travel convenient for pilgrims and organized sanghs.

Parasnath (Isri) Town lies about 20 km from Madhuban and serves as a major road junction. Regular taxis, shared jeeps, and private vehicles are available from Parasnath Railway Station and nearby bus stops. The drive usually takes 45–60 minutes, depending on traffic and weather conditions.

Long-distance buses and private vehicles connect Giridih, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Ranchi, Patna, and Kolkata to Parasnath and Giridih. From Giridih, Madhuban is approximately 25 km by road. Parking facilities are available at Madhuban, and further movement toward the hill follows regulated pilgrimage routes to preserve the sanctity and environment of the tirtha.

Air Connectivity

The nearest major airport to Sammed Shikharji (Parasnath Hill) is Birsa Munda Airport, Ranchi (IXR), located approximately 150 km from Madhuban. Ranchi airport is well-connected with regular flights from major Indian cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Patna. From the airport, pilgrims can hire taxis or book private vehicles to reach Madhuban. The road journey usually takes 4–5 hours.

Another convenient option is Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata (CCU), about 300 km away. As a major international airport, it offers extensive domestic and international connectivity. From Kolkata, pilgrims can travel onward by train or road to Parasnath or Giridih.

For a smoother pilgrimage, especially for elderly devotees and groups, it is advisable to plan onward transport from the airport in advance through trusted local operators or sangh arrangements.

Taxi & Private Vehicles

Local taxis and private vehicles are readily available from Parasnath Railway Station, Giridih, and Madhuban. These are suitable for families, elderly pilgrims, and organized sanghs. Taxis provide direct access to Madhuban and nearby dharamshalas, offering comfort, flexibility, and door-to-door convenience.

Shared Jeeps & Autos

Shared jeeps and auto-rickshaws operate regularly between Parasnath Station, Isri Bazaar, Giridih, and Madhuban. This is a cost-effective option widely used by pilgrims. Though basic, it offers frequent availability and easy access to the base area during peak pilgrimage seasons.

Local Buses

Government and private buses run between Giridih, Parasnath, and nearby towns. During peak yatra periods, many Jain sanghs and trusts also arrange dedicated transport for pilgrims, ensuring disciplined travel aligned with yatra timings and traditional maryada.
